Overcrowded bus overturns at a curve in Amarpur, 22 Injured
At least 22 people, including children, women, and elderly passengers, were injured on Monday when an overcrowded passenger bus overturned on the Amarpur–Natunbazar route near the 5th TSR battalion headquarters in Gomati district.
According to police sources, the bus (registration number TR-03-1382) was travelling from Agartala towards Natunbazar via Amarpur. The accident occurred when the speeding bus attempted to negotiate a sharp curve near the 5th TSR battalion headquarters and overturned.
As a result, several passengers sustained injuries, triggering panic at the scene. Jawans from the 5th TSR battalion headquarters immediately rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of fire service personnel, rescued the injured passengers.
All the injured were shifted to Amarpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Of the 22 injured, one passenger was reported to be in critical condition and was referred to Gomati District Hospital in Udaipur for advanced medical care.
Later, police personnel from Birganj Police Station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.
