Papiya Datta to contest from 6-Agartala seat as BJP candidate
The ruling BJP has nominated its general secretary Papia Datta as the candidate for prestigious 6-Agartala assembly constituency, where heavy weight Congress candidate and MLA Sudip Roy Barman contesting the elections as candidate for Left parties and Congress.
With the announcement of Papia Datta, BJP has declared their candidate names for 55 seats and share five remaining seats to their alliance partner IPFT.
Papia Datta, is well-known leader of BJP's Mohila Morcha and has also the general secretary of the state unit of the party.
Speaking with media persons, Datta said that her nomination for the Agartala constituency is symbolic because all BJP workers will work relentlessly to ensure the victory of the party. She also sincerely thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party national president JP Nadda and state leaders for reposing faith on her. He also said that she is confident that BJP will win the election to the Agartala Assembly constituency with the blessings of electors.
She also said that along with other candidates of the party, she will also submit her nomination papers on Monday after a rally of the party workers.
The last date for making nominations will be on Monday while scrutiny will be done on January 31 and February 2 will be the last date of withdrawal of nominations.
