Para-legal volunteers playing important role to ensure legal services, HC Chief Justice
The Para-legal volunteers are being treated as foot soldiers as they are playing key roles to ensure legal services to common people, said Chief Justice, High Court of Tripura & Patron-in- Chief, TSLSA, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.
Chief Justice Singh addressing the " Annual Meet of Legal Aid Functionaries & Commendation Ceremony " held at Tripura Judicial Academy, Narsingarh at the outskirts of Agartala on Friday said that “legal aid movements as unlimited boundaries and the Para legal volunteers are our foot soldiers and all our legal aid campaigns and whatever we achieve , they are one connect the common man with legal aid and avail then over the welfare schemes of the government and legal aid movements .”
In order to extend the legal aid services to the common people of the state, the para-legal volunteers and legal aid functionaries are in the front-row in the country, said Justice Singh and added that the special Lok Adalat held on October 8th across Tripura , the Lok Adalat judiciary has been able to wipeout 27.4% of pending cases due to concrete efforts of legal aid movements.
Stressing on a more cordial relationship of common people, if the papa-legal volunteers strengthen their relationship with people, then society and its people will get more benefit through government schemes and legal services, said Chief Justice Singh.
He also emphasized on over increasing number of women legal volunteers.
During the programme Executive Chairman OF Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) and judge of the High Court of Tripura Amarnath Goud said that with the efforts of all, the state is performing very well in legal aid services and successfully implementing different legal services. He also said that legal aid services have played a very important role in reducing drug abuse, human trafficking and creating awareness in society. The judge of the High Court of Tripura and the chairman of HCLSC, Justice Arindam Lodh said that the main target of the State Legal Services Authority is to ensure legal aid to the poor section of the society. He also highlighted the important role of Para-legal volunteers in anti-drug campaigns and to guide the youths to avoid drugs.
During the programme Law secretary Biswajit Palit, advocate general Siddhartha Sankar Dey and Member secretary Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Sabyasachi Datta Purokayasta were also delivered their addresses.
