Patal Kanya attacks Motha chief Pradyot, BJP initiates action

BJP’s Tripura unit vice-president Patal Kanya Jamatia once again stirred a storm by attacking supremo of Tipra-Motha, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma in harsh language that may lead to a setback in her political career as the BJP has already initiated a disciplinary action against the firebrand leader.

Subrata Chakraborty, spokesman of BJP state committee clearly said the party doesn’t approve her statement as she is holding an important position of vice president of the party state committee.

The drama started when Patal Kanya on Wednesday  addressed a press conference and attacked Pradyot  Kishore in harsh language. She called Pradyot as ‘Dalal’ (agent). Pradyot did not react over her comment but in a social media post significantly said ‘Haathi Chale Bazar Kutte Bhoke Hazar’. In a facebook live also he indirectly criticized Patal Kanya Jamatia.

Patal Kanya Jamatia was the right hand of Pradyot Kishore’s when he left Congress and formed Tipra- Motha . They fell out when Pradyot forged an alliance with IPFT during the TTAADC election, ignoring her. Later, BJP inducted her in the party and gave high position of Vice President and also made her Chairman of the TRPC with deputy minister status. She also contested in the last assembly election as a BJP candidate from Ampi constituency and was defeated by Motha candidate.

She felt that her position in the BJP was threatened after Pradyot Kishore made an alliance with BJP, two members of the Motha were inducted in the ministry. The nomination of Pradyot’s sister from the East Tripura seat struck the last nail and Patal could not resist her anger which was reflected in Wednesday's developments.

Patal Kanya in her press conference launched a scathing attack on Pradyot  Kishore and  questioned  what  authority  he had given for personally attacking the BJP’s vice president after joining forces with the BJP. Jamatia  also alleged that Pradyot's politics revolved around "divide and rule," raising concerns about hate being spread within communities.

She also accused Pradyot of betraying the trust of the people who supported him. She challenged Pradyot Kishore to seek forgiveness for allegedly spreading hate among the Janajati community, warning that he would lose support if he failed to do so.

In her impassioned plea, Patal Kanya urged the tribal people to respond to what she described as cheating in politics by Pradyot Kishore. The accusations made by the BJP vice president have intensified tensions ahead of the crucial East Tripura Lok Sabha election, adding a new dimension to the already heated political landscape.
