PM programme schedules finalized; massive security arrangements made
Amidst massive preparations for the visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18 to Agartala address a mass rally at Vivekananda stadium and to attend a variety of events and to launch a host of projects, the DM and SP of West Tripura district shared details of programme schedules of the PM.
District Magistrate (DM) of West Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan said that PM through a special Air Force flight will land at Agartala airport on 2.25 PM on Sunday and will arrive at Vivekananda stadium at 2.45 pm.
After inaugurating and launching host of projects, the Prime Minister after addressing the large gathering of beneficiaries from different parts of the state, will leave the stadium at 3.45 PM and will arrive at State Guest house, said Bardhan and added that in the state guest house, the PM has scheduled to attend an interaction with ministers and MLAs. The PM is scheduled to leave the state at 5.15 PM through the Air Force’s special flight.
Giving details of the arrangements made, the DM said that the government has arranged some special trains for easy communication of beneficiaries, who will arrive in the state from different districts of the state. From Badharghat railway station, there will be buses to reach the beneficiaries at their destination and have also arrangements for their smooth return. He said that from Agartala airport to Swami Vivekananda stadium, altogether 16 cultural troops will welcome the PM through different cultural programmes.
Speaking in the press meet SP(West) Shankar Debnath said massive security arrangements were made across Agartala city and other parts of the state. He said that all beneficiaries will be allowed to enter the stadium after 11 AM and now people will not be allowed with umbrellas, water bottles and bags. He said that the government has made arrangements of drinking water and toilet facilities inside the ground.
Debnath sharing details of security measures said that BSF has been put on high alert and asked to strengthen the border vigil along with regular patrolling. Apart from these, a large number of security forces along with plain cloth police personnel will also be deployed across the city with some traffic restrictions.
While, in a notification, the DM (West) has put restrictions over vehicular movements in Airport Road and from morning 11 AM to evening 6 PM, no good carrying vehicles will be allowed in the road.
The notification has also given directions for alternative routes for emergency purposes and some restrictions in routes of Agartala city near the venue. The notification has also mentioned stoppage of buses and other vehicles carrying beneficiaries from different parts of the state up to Agartala will have to stop at the outskirts of Agartala city.
