Police ASI crushed to death by a speeding bus
In a tragic road mishap one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police crushed to death by a speeding bus at Kashipur area of the national highway-8 on Monday midnight.
Police sources said that deceased ASI was identified as Kamal Debnath posted at Battala town outpost (TOP) under West Agartala police station and after Monday night duty, Debnath with his motorbike was proceeding towards his house at Durnagar area under Ranir Bazar police station.
When he reached near Kashipur area, suddenly a speeding bus crushed him after a heavy collision and the ill-fated bus escaped from the spot.
Immediately, firefighters rushed to the spot and shifted critically injured ASI Kamal Debnath to GB Hospital, where after a few minutes of primary treatment Debnath succumbed to death due to his critical head injuries.
On Tuesday morning after autopsy of the dead body, the mortal remains of deceased Kamal Debtha were brought to West Agartala police and all police personnel including senior officers paid their last tributes to the departed soul.
While, SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das on Tuesday said that a specific case has been registered under Budhjungnagar police station and police managed to arrest accused driver Brahmajit Bhattacharjee (40) of Fulchari, Durga Chowmuhani, Kamalpur, Dhalai district and has also seized the offending white colour bus (TR04-1224).
