Police busted illegal immigrant racket, arrested nine persons including BD nationals, govt employees

Taking strong action against illegal immigrants and a network of forged documents, the Tripura police have busted a big racket of illegal immigrants and fraud document makers and has so far arrested nine persons including four Bangladesh national and fine Indian including two bank employees.

Police sources said that based on secret information, a team of police personnel arrested four Bangladesh nationals including three women from Agartala railway station on Wednesday, who were identified as Kolsoma Begum (24), Riya Mani (22), Sadia Mani (19) and their guide Ebadur Rahaman (42), all were residents of Chittagong district of Bangladesh.  These four Bangladesh were arrested under a specific case registered at Government Railway police station of Agartala under section 468,471,120B,212 of IPC and section 14 (A)/14 (C) of Foreigners Act and section-3 of IPP Act (entry into India amendment Act-2000).

AIG(Law and Order) Jyotishman Das Chowdhury said that based on the interrogation statements of arrested Bangla nationals, police have also arrested five Indian including one tout and 4 fraudsters, who were fraudulently making fake Aadhar cards to facilitate illegal migrants. Five arrested Indians were identified as Sudhan Sarkar of Amtali, who was providing shelter to the Bangladesh nationals in his house.

Police sources said that three more government employees including one SDM office of Sadar subdivision and two more employees of SDM office of Jirania subdivision were detained on Thursday and a team of senior police officials were engaged for interrogation.

While, police Thursday has arrested four other residents of Tripura including Samiran Paul (40) of Master Chowmuhani under Srinagar police station, who is an employee Indian Bank(Hawkers Corner branch) and another employee of Indian Bank, posted at Gurkhabasti branch, Biplob Roy (22) of Sekharkot area under Amtali police station. Another two arrested persons were identified as  Mithun Das (36) of Rajarbag of Udaipur and Subhankar Sur (35) of Anandanagar under Srinagar police station.

Police added that all these people were making fake Indian documents for illegal migrants and many fake Aadhar cards and other fake documents were recovered under their possession.

Police also said that more actions have been initiated for end to end connections of these fraudsters to get details of the illegal migrants’ racket and international linkage of this racket. Police will also organize more special drives to prevent illegal immigration to Tripura and further to other states of the country effectively.
