Police foiled escaping bid, three dacoits arrested from Teliamura rail station
Three dacoits involved with two daring incidents of dacoity held at Sonamura area of Sepahijala district on October 20 last have been arrested from Teliamura railway station, when they were trying to escape from the state.
Police sources said that three dacoits identified as Faruq Hussain, Maninul Rahman and Pritam Bhowmik had raided two houses of Sonamura on October 20 night and looted away all gold ornaments and cash from these houses at gunpoint. After the dreaded dacoity incidents, Sonamura police registered an FIR and started investigation.
During investigation, process police learnt that all trios had boarded in a Silchar bound train to escape from the state and Sonamura police had requested the Teliamura police station to detain these criminals.
Based on the information, Teliamura police managed to detain them from Trisha Bari (Teliamura) police on Monday morning and handed them over to police personnel from Sonamura police station for further legal action.
