After arrested of a young girl as a alleged mastermind and former club president in the sensational murder of incumbent club president of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki, who was shot dead on April 30 night, the investigation team so far unable to arrest remaining half-dozen of accused, but claimed that investigation in the final stage and will soon resolved murder mystery.

After the shootout, on May 1st, the investigation team of Airport police station has arrested former club president of Bharat Ratna Sangha, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury from Usha Bazar and based on the interrogation statement of Chowdhury, who was in police custody, police on Thursday night arrested one of the prime accused and alleged mastermind of the murder, Sushmita Sarkar (22).

Police sources said that along with interrogation statements of Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury and CCTV footage collected from the nearby areas of the scene of crime, Sushmita was arrested.

On Friday afternoon both arrested accused were produced before the court of Chief Judicial magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura with 10 days police remand prayers for interrogation, but court sent them for four more days police remand for interrogation.

Arrested Sushmita is being taken to the police lockup of West Agartala women police station and Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury is being interrogated by senior police officials at the lockup of Airport police station.

While, sharing some investigation details, the SP(West) Kiran Kumar and SDPO(NCC) Subrata Barman said that the police investigating team are getting some vital information over the murder of Viki and they are tracking about six of accused persons to arrest them at the earliest, who are on the run after the incident. They said that soon police will be able to resolve mystery of the murder.

Meanwhile, both top officers investigating the case claimed that some bogus facts over the investigation were published by some vernacular dailies of the state, which are not at all associated with the murder  of Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki.

During the raid at the houses of arrested Sushmita Sarkar, police had only got two bank passbooks and a deposit of a few thousands of rupees as stipend from the government as Sushmita was an athlete. Her mother was  admitted to GB Hospital and her poor father was also staying with her mother at the hospital.

Police never arrested her elder sister, but brought her to West Agartala women police station for her security as she remained alone in their house and on Saturday , police handed over Sushmita’s elder sister to her father at GB Hospital, said the SDPO(NCC).

Over the story of seizure of many bank passbooks and transactions of over Rs. 3.5 crore in their accounts, the police said that they never get such information and they are all false media reports.

 Police added that they got a connection of Sushmita with the murder of Viki and she had maintained her good relationship with former club secretary Raju Barman and murdered club secretary Viki. Police also said that both former club secretaries of Bharat Ratna Sangha often helped Sushmita’s family due to their poverty and she was an athlete.

Police had produced Sushmita Sarkar before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (West Tripura) on Friday and get four days of police remand, but claimed that she never had alleged illicit relationship with slain Durga Prassana Deb alias Viki and she has boyfriend, who is presently working at Malaysia. Sushmita also had a good relationship with another accused in the murder including one Raju Barman.

Police sources said that the investigating team is trying to collect the weapon of crime, phone call details of Sushmita with accused Raju Barman along with call record and WhatsApp details.

Both Sushmita and Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury will again appear before the court on May 7th next.

It may be recalled here that soon after the shootout incident, the Airport police station lodged a Suo-Moto FIR  on April 30th last and arrested Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury on May 1st. On the same day, police produced the accused before the court of Chief Judicial magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura with five days police remand for interrogation and court granted 3 days remand to him.

Government Advocate Indrajit Biswas said that after the sensational murder of Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki on Tuesday evening (April 30) at Shalbagan area under Agartala Airport police station, police has registered an Suo-Moto FIR under section 302, 120(B) of IPC and 27 Arms Act against assailants.

He added that based on the complaint of the wife of the deceased youth, many club members of Bharat Ratna Sangha were involved with the sensational murder of Viki, who was also a local leader of BJP.

It may be recalled here that the shootout at Shalbagan Bazar has prime reason of growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias and the North side of Agartala city has once again shaken the cantonment area of Shalbagan , in which  club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar shot dead, which mainly held for a share of money of negotiation CPW contracts.

Elder brother and wife of slain Viki claimed that one Biman Das of Bharat Ratna Sangha called Viki in the evening and sent his car to reach Shalbagan area. They also complained that mafias of Usha Bazar area were responsible for killing of their kin.

Viki’s wife said that negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Rajesh Barman, Debabrata Barman, Santosh and Prabakar Ghosh were responsible for the killing of her husband and she had also named these persons in the FIR.
