Police registered FIR over Mohanpur incident, assured arrest of all accused persons
After destruction of four LED vans of Congress were ransacked and destroyed party decorations, the state police has registered an FIR and start investigation to arrest perpetrators involved in the incident
On Sunday morning , when four LED vans of Congress entered at Mohanpur assembly constituency, some miscreants attacked these four vehicles and totally ransacked all vehicles, stealing away generator set and sound systems. The flag festoon attached to the campaign car was torn off.
Soon after the incident, the opposition Congress staged a protest demonstration and lodged a complaint before the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura demanding action against miscreants and protection for their political rights.
Later, Congress has also registered an FIR at Sidhai Mohanpur police station against miscreants and alleged local BJP leaders who were involved with vendalization in their campaign vehicles. Congress alleged that BJP miscreants even took a generator kept in the campaign vehicle. As news of the incident spread, Congress leaders in the capital rushed to Mohanpur.
While speaking with media persons SP(West) Shankar Debnath said that after the incident, police rushed to the spot and registered the complaint. He said police forces led by SDPO and OC are camping in the incident. He said that police are investigating the incident and all culprits involved in the incident will be arrested.
He assured the people that a large number of Central Arms Police Forces (CAPFs) has arrived in the state and more central forces are also coming. As part of the ‘zero poll violence’ initiatives by the Election Commission of India (ECI), adequate security arrangements are being taken to ensure the free and fair elections in the state, said Debnath and added that CAPFs and state police has already started flag march and area domination exercise in all sensitive areas of the state to ensure proper security. Debnath said that they committed to ensure zero violence and free and fair elections.
Meanwhile, along with other parts of the state, the District Magistrate and SP of the West Tripura district Debapriya Burdhan and Shankar Debnath along with Returning Officer Nirmal Adhikari led flag march and area domination exercise in the Pratapgarh assembly constituency on Sunday afternoon with CAPFs , which passes different areas of the constituency.
