Based on the secret information, police on Friday recovered a total of Rs. 10 lakh cash from the house of one suspected drug smuggler from bordering Anandapur village under Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district.

Giving details, OC of Sonamura police station, Tapash Das said that acting on intelligence inputs over storage of huge amount of Indian currency for drug trade has been stored at the house of one Nachim Miah of Anandapur village, a joint of contingent of police forces along with BSF jawans of 81st battalion raided at the house in the early hours of Friday.

He said that during the raid, police recovered a total of Rs. 10 lakh cash from that house and the inmates of the house were unable to submit any documents or proper statement over the sources of these seized money.

Das added that during the raid, house owner Nachim Miah escaped from the spot and police have started an investigation to find out the source of these amounts and whether these are stored for smuggling.
