Police seized Yaba of Rs 3 cr after chased a smuggler car, one arrested, 2 injured
Tripura police in a successful raid after chasing a car of a smuggler loaded with contraband items have recovered huge quantities of Yaba tablets, worth Rs. 3 crore and arrested a smuggler. While chasing, two police personnel including OC of Melaghar police station under Sepahijala district suffered injuries.
Giving details, Additional SP of Sepahijala district, Rajib Sutradhar said that Melaghar police station have specific information that huge quantities of contraband items in private car will move towards bordering Sonamura area and based on the information, a contingent of police led by OC of Melaghar police station, Debasish Saha laid a trap near Indiranagar area of Melaghar-Sonamura route.
When police personnel identified that suspect car, the driver of the car dashed the police van and at heavy speed started escaping towards Sunamura, said Sutradhar and added that immediately, police personnel had also chased the car. At one point, the driver of the smuggler's car lost his control and crashed into a road house, then police managed to catch the accused driver and a suspected smuggler, identified as Didar Hussain of Kulubari area of the same district, said ASP.
He said that during a search in the car, police recovered a total of 2.60 lakh Yaba tablets hidden inside the car in different packets, worth Rs. 3 crore.
Sutradhar also said during the raid of OC of Melaghar police station and a constable suffered injuries and they were shifted to a local hospital for primary treatment. He said that the seizure of Yaba tablets of Rs. 3 crore is the biggest seizure by Sepahijala district police in recent times.
