Police yet to recover stolen motorbike of a photo-journalist
Even after 24 hours, the Agartala city police have not been able to make any progress over recovery of a stolen motorbike.
On Wednesday, a bike was stolen from the lane near Haradhan Sangha, adjacent to the ST, SC Corporation office, at Lake Chowmuhani area under West Agartala police station. The stolen bike belonged to Photo-journalist Nitai Dey (Nitu). It was a black and red Super Splendor with the registration number TR 01-T-9559.
Sources said that he had parked the bike at that place and went to his home. When he came back, he found that the motorbike was missing from its parking place.
Immediately, Nitai informed the police and an investigation was initiated. However, the police have not checked the CCTV cameras in the area. A general diary (GD) entry was made at the West Agartala Police Station on Wednesday night. According to the police, for now, only a GD entry has been made, and a formal case will be registered after a month.
As of now, the stolen bike has not been recovered. Earlier, about 5 to 6 motorbikes were stolen by bike lifters from that area and the fact that the theft happened in broad daylight has sparked tension in the locality—how did the thieves manage to steal a journalist’s bike in broad daylight?
While, police sources added that they have initiated an investigation to recover the stolen bike including reviewing CCTV cameras installed in the city.
