R-Day celebrated peacefully in Tripura amid gaiety
Tripura along with other parts of the country celebrated the 74th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour amidst tight security arrangements. So far, there is no report of any untoward incident from any part of the state.
The main programme and Republic Day parade was held at Assam Rifles ground on Thursday morning.
Tripura Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya unfurled the tricolour at the Assam Rifles ground and took salutes of the police and other security forces in the main parade programme of the state.
Addressing the gathering during the celebration, the Governor said that above 70% of the state population are dependable on agriculture and trading for their livelihood and the development of these sectors should continue.
To make Tripura as the best state of the country, the development in the sectors of health, education and in the sporting arena should continue, said Governor Arya.
Expressing his greeting towards the people of the state and security forces, the Governor said that the Republic Day is very important for every citizen of the country on this day in 1950, the Indian Constituent Assembly led by Dr B R Ambedkar accepted the constitution and India became a sovereign and democratic country.
The constitution of the country has entrusted freedom, equal rights for all people and through 42nd amendment of the constitution, India became a socialist and secular country, said Governor Arya.
After the march past by security forces, in the concluding part of the programme thousands of school children performed various colourful dances and songs with traditional attire. The Republic Day was celebrated across Tripura with numerous functions and programmes, including sports events.
Meanwhile, reports from the districts said, Republic Day was also celebrated at district headquarters under tight security.
