RO issued warning against Biplab Kr Deb, advised him to refrain from impugned statements
Based on the complaints of CPI(M) state secretary and Congress MLA over alleged used of threatening language by BJP candidate of West Tripura parliamentary constituency during a poll rally at Kalyanpur Bazar on April 22 last, the RO of East Tripura PC warned Biplab Kumar Deb.
Sources said that former Chief Minister and BJP candidate for West Tripura LS seat, Biplab Kumar Deb during an election rally at Kalyanpur Bazar on April 22 in support of BJP candidate for East Tripura seat, Kriti Singh Debbarma has allegedly threatened senior Congress leader and BLP Sudip Roy Barman without naming him and had also uttered that Roy Barman should buried deep underground and has also allegedly said that ‘Communists are blood-thirsty’.
After the receiving two complaints from both CPI (M) and Congress, the Returning Officer (RO) of East Tripura PC, Saju Vaheed has also received a reply from the election agent of Biplab Kumar Deb and had verified all the allegation by proper investigation by AROs of Teliamura and Kalyanpur-Pramodnagar assembly seats.
On Thursday (April 25), the RO Saju Vaheed issued an order against Biplab Kumar Deb and said in its order that “it is confirmed that Biplab Kumar Deb made the statements as mentioned in the complaints although he has not mentioned any individual. However, the statements made by him are found to be intimidating and offensive and hence, violative of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).”
The RO in its order also stated that “now, therefore, without prejudice to any order/notice issued or to be issued subsequently to him in the matter relating to MCC violations, the RO of East Tripura PC disapproves the impugned statements made by Biplab Kumar Deb during street corner meeting as a part of the election campaign at Kalyanpur Bazar on April 22, Deb is hereby warned for making the above mentioned statements and is advised to refrain from making such statements during elections in future which otherwise shall be seen as a violation of MCC.”
