In a tragic road mishap a sexagenarian was killed by speeding passenger bus at Ranir Bazar on Tuesday afternoon and a Maruti car driver suffered critical injuries, when met with a tragic accident at Bishalgarh Bypass due to heavy speed.
Police sources said that when a pedestrian identified as Parameshwar Debnath (60) was trying to cross the National Highway-8 at the portion of Ranir Bazar, suddenly a speeding bus dashed him from his back. As a result, sexagenarian Das suffered critical head injuries.
Immediately, firefighters and police rushed to the spot and shifted him to GB Hospital, where a visiting doctor declared him dead.
Later, the deceased's son and other relatives hearing the accident rushed to the spot and complained against reckless driving by the bus driver. Police added that they seized the offending bus and registered a specific case, but were unable to arrest the accused bus driver.
In another road accident a Maruti car driver moving towards Agartala from Udaipur lost his control at the Bishalgarh Bypass road and crashed with boundary reeling of the road at a heavy speed. As a result, the driver of the car identified as Manzilk Das suffered critical injuries and was shifted to GB Hospital in serious condition on Tuesday morning.
