Rs 20 Lakh worth jewellery stolen from NRI’s house in Sonamura
A daring theft incident has rocked Kulubari village under Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district , where gold jewelleries worth nearly Rs 20 lakh was stolen from the residence of an NRI’s family, triggering widespread concern in the locality.
Sources said that , Abul Kashem, a resident of Kulubari village has been working abroad for a long time, while his wife lives alone at the house. The almirah had been locked, but the theft came to light when she found the jewellery box lying outside the room. It was then discovered that gold ornaments worth around Rs 20 lakh had been stolen. However, the exact time of the incident remains unclear.
Upon realizing the theft, the housewife immediately informed the police at Sonamura police station and police rushed to the spot, inspected the entire house, and initiated a preliminary investigation. Suspicion has initially fallen on the domestic help working at the house.
