Seven more Bangladesh nationals arrested from Sabroom border, Agartala Railway station for illegal entry
Despite heightened vigil along the India-Bangladesh border days before the celebration of 76th Republic Day, infiltration from the unrest hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and during past 24-hours again seven more citizens of the neighbouring country including children were arrested by the security personnel from Sabroom border and from Agartala railway station before boarding to a long distance train.
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
Police sources said that five members of a Bangladeshi family were apprehended in Sabroom under South Tripura district Friday morning for illegally crossing the international border.
Nityananda Sarkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sabroom, said the five Bangladeshi nationals include two women, two minor girls, and one male. The family hails from Rangamati in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh were arrested.
The apprehended adults were identified as Sanatan Mishra Dey (35), Tanni Dey (25) and Narayani Dey, (57) and two minor girls are aged 3 years and 2 years.
Sarkar said that police has received a tip-off around 9 AM of Friday morning that five Bangladeshi nationals have crossed the border and entered Indian territory and police coordinated with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from Magrum camp and apprehended them during a joint operation.
He said that during searches on their baggage, a few fake Aadhar cards were also recovered from their possessions and all adult Bangladeshi would be produced before a local court for further legal proceedings. The minors would be accommodated in a shelter home.
On Thursday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two more Bangladeshi youths from Agartala Railway station before boarding a long distance train.
Giving details, OC of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that a joint contingent of GRP, RPF and BSF based on secret information on Thursday afternoon managed to arrest two Bangladeshi youths before their escape bid towards a long distance train.
The Bangladeshi citizens after illegally entering Tripura were trying to board a train to go to Kolkata via Guwahati.
Das said that arrested Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Giyash Uddin (26) and Mainuddin (25) Chittagong district of Bangladesh.
It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
It may be recalled here that on January 22, the Tripura Police held Bangladeshi nationals in possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and Indian and Bangladeshi currency notes, among other items, in the Milanchakra area of Agartala city.
