Severe storm causes power outages in Kanchanpur &  Panisagar subdivisions

A severe storm wreaked havoc in large areas of Kanchanpur and Panisagar sub-divisions under North Tripura district, leaving a trail of destruction.

Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds caused extensive damage to the power supply infrastructure. Reports indicate that electricity transmission line wires were snapped in various areas of Kanchanpur, including the Damcherra area, where poles were also broken. The storm inflicted significant damage on the power sub-division office in Kanchanpur. In the Kukunala area under Damcherra Electric sub-division, eight electric poles collapsed, exacerbating the situation.

Furthermore, fallen trees and branches entangled with transmission lines resulted in further disruptions to the electricity supply. Consequently, large areas of Kanchanpur and Panisagar sub-divisions have been plunged into darkness.

In response to the crisis, the staff of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has mobilized efforts to restore the power service swiftly. However, due to the extent of the damage, restoration efforts may take some time.

TSECL authorities urge the public in the affected areas to cooperate and remain patient as restoration work progresses.
