Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers on Tuesday observed the 17th Annual Sports Day and Prize-giving Ceremony of ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ at Warengbari in Gomati district.
‘Swarnagram’ is a flagship initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers aimed at developing Warengbari as a model village. As part of this initiative, Swarnagram Shikshalaya, a residential school project adopted by the company, seeks to enhance existing facilities by ensuring proper nutrition, providing study materials, engaging dedicated teachers and sports instructors, and offering scholarships to meritorious students.
The Annual Sports Day and Prize-giving Ceremony marked a celebration of excellence in both academics and sports. Trophies and medals were awarded to outstanding students for their achievements and promise.
In sports, Awinel Reang and Paramita Reang were adjudged the Best Boy and Best Girl respectively. For academic excellence, the Best Boy and Best Girl awards were presented to Juniyel Reang and Koyal Reang.
The event was held in a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere and also featured the distribution of blankets among residents of Swarnagram, including students of the Shikshalaya.
The programme was attended by noted entrepreneur Suman Dasgupta, Alak Adhikari, members of the Tripura Jewellery Association, and Rupak Saha, Director of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers.
Speaking on the occasion, Rupak Saha said, “Swarnagram is a very special project for us. It began as a dream seventeen years ago, and today that dream has been realised to a large extent due to the support of concerned government departments, contributions from our associates, and most importantly, the response of the people of Swarnagram and the support of our friends in the news media.”
He added that while much work still remains, the Annual Sports Day is a step towards nurturing youth power and holistic development.
The day’s programme concluded with a community feast and ended on a sweet and cheerful note.
