Six notorious motorbike lifters arrested, 3 stolen bikes recovered
In separate successful operations, the capital city police on Saturday recovered three stolen motorbikes and have also managed to arrest 6 motorbike lifters including two infamous lifters, who were active members of trans-border bike lifting gang.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of New Capital Complex (NCC) police station of Agartala, Prajit Malakar said that recently one Shiv Sankar Roy of Aralia area filed a complaint at the police station that his motorbike has been stolen away by unknown miscreants from Nehru Park area of Gurkhabasti.
Based on this complaint and another bike stolen incident from GB Bazar area, a team of NCC police station started investigation and during reviewing of all CCTV footage and other scientific evidence, police managed to arrest a kingpin with his auto-rickshaw.
OC said that during preliminary interrogation, the arrested auto-rickshaw driver, who is also a member of the Indo-Bangla bike lifter gang confessed his involvement with many lifting cases.
Later, police also arrested two more bike lifters from Agartala and three more infamous bike lifters including Sankar Sarkar and Bimal Das, who were previously arrested in many motor bike lifting cases from bordering Boxanagar area under Sepahijala district.
Malakar said that based on the confessional statements of all arrested six thieves, police recovered three motorcycles including a Royal Enfield under their possessions including the bikes stolen from Nehru Park and from B+GB Bazar areas. All arrested thieves will be produced before a local court on Sunday with police remand appeals for interrogation to get details of other gang members, said police.
