SKM to observe ‘black-day’ on Feb 23 in protest of farmer killing during Delhi march
Protesting death of 24-year-old farmer Shubo Karan Singh who was shot dead by the police at the Khanauri border during the farmers' Delhi march, the all Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will observe ‘black-day’ in Tripura on Friday along with other parts of the country.
The SKM leader and secretary of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Pabitra Kar through a press statement said that the ‘Kala Diwas' (black-day) will also be observed in Tripura and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of Shubo Karan Singh.
He said that this murder was a declaration of war against the state power and food donors. The Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana is running and targeting food donors (farmers) as enemies of the country and treating food donors like war criminals. Describing farmers' Delhi drive as an attack by external enemies, the government is using police weapons against innocent unarmed farmers, which is rare in the civilized world. He said this is the third death in the Delhi drive of these farmers. He was surprised that he was shot in the head. He said, "After this, Haryana and Punjab Chief Ministers are confronting each other with the theory of police firing, which is a shame for this country." The same incident happened again on Wednesday at Shambhu border. The farmers are being attacked by the direct attack of the police, but why is the Prime Minister of the country silent? So what will be assumed to be in his knowledge? he asked.
What are the demands of the farmers? He said the SKM has rejected the Indian government's proposal of A2+FL+50% of the new minimum support price. The SKM has made it clear that Morcha will not budge from its demand for C2+50% minimum support price on all types of crops. Today, similarly, Pabitra Kar says that nothing but C20+50% will be accepted. Kar commented on the Government of India Minister's proposal to enter into a contract with the farmers for five years after the cultivation of the five crops with cooperatives like Kalai, Arhar, Peas, NCCF and NAAFED.
Pabitra Kar said those ministers are announcing the minimum price of sugarcane which is not even close to their formula.
He alleged that the minister's statement was only an attempt to confuse the C2+50% formula and other demands of the SKM for the minimum support price, still the government ministers were trying to do extra tricks. He said the government's proposal at A2+FL+50% if even if the profit of the food donors is seen, we will not shrink from the demand to pay the minimum support price according to the C2 + 50% formula. Kar also said that the final movement will also be decided after the meeting of the National Assembly and General Body of the United Kisan Morcha and on February 23, the SKM will celebrate ‘Kala Diwas’ to protest the killing and attack of these farmers in Tripura along with the rest of the country.
