Smuggler arrested with huge quantity of Yaba tablets, arms from bordering Motinagar
In a significant joint operation on Friday morning, Tripura along with Border Security Force (BSF) seized a huge quantities of Yaba tablets and one pistol along with Magazine and ammunition from a house in bordering Motinagar area near India-Bangladesh border under Amtali police station of West Tripura district.
After the successful operation, SP(West) Kiran Kumar speaking with media persons at Amtali police station on Friday afternoon said that based on secret information a joint contingent of police personnel from Amtali police station and BSF jawans of Rayermura border outpost (BOP) of 42nd battalion raided at the house of one Abu Salam Bhuiya (59).
In the course of the search operation, the joint team recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets , worth Rs. 20 lakh and 7.65 caliber pistol with a magazine and five live rounds in different parts of the house. The police arrested drug smuggler Abu Salam Bhuiya under a specific case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Arms Act, said SP.
He said that police started investigation over the recovery of huge quantities of Yaba tablets and arms and to unearth the nexus of international smugglers.
While, BSF through a press statement said that taking lead from the seizure of narcotics substance, Yaba tablets on 4th June 2024 in the AOR of BOP Mohanpur by BSF and on specific intelligence input provided by BSF, a joint operation was successfully conducted the raid at the house of Abu Salam Bhuiya on Friday.
40,000 tablets of Yaba Tablets packed in four packets valued at approximately Rs 02 crores, one country-made pistol (7.65 mm) with one magazine and five live rounds were recovered and seized from the house of Abu Salam Bhuiya . The house owner has been apprehended and handed over to Amtali Police Station along with seized items.
The successful joint operation by the BSF and Tripura Police demonstrates their commitment to combat the menace of illegal drug trafficking in the border state of Tripura.
