Soon international trade through Sabroom land port via sea routes will begin, Kiran Gitte
Soon international trade through Sabroom land port station in South Tripura district will start and international tradition through the trade route of Chittagong-Ashuganj- Haldia route will commence.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Friday afternoon, secretary of Industries and Commerce department of Tripura government, Kiran Gitte accompanied by the director of Biswashree B said that the Sabroom land port station inaugurated on March 9th last and on May 23rd, 2024, a joint meeting of traders India-Bangladesh along with logistic agencies working in the sea route of Chittagong-Ashuganj- Haldia held at Agartala to start the trade through Sabroom land port.
Gitte said that soon the international trade via sea ports in Bangladesh and India will start through Sabroom land port station, which will boost up the bilateral trade with Bangladesh and Tripura along with the entire Northeast region will get the benefit.
He said that the border haat at Srinagar under Sabroom subdivision has been actively functioning and soon the Kamalasagar border haat under Sepahijala district will again start the bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh.
Highlighting the department's future targets, Gitte said that efforts are being made to increase foreign trade by opening new border haats with Bangladesh and improving infrastructure and connectivity with land ports.
He also said that the state government gears up for ease of doing business and employment generation and the government is actively working towards transforming Tripura into an investment friendly destination.
Tripura has been ranked first among the North Eastern states in 2016 and has maintained the second position in 2018 for its promotion of ease of doing business through effective policy and regulatory changes.
The state government is also expanding industrial estates across all districts and identifying new industrial locations, said Gitte and added that the department’s key sectors for additional subsidies include rubber, bamboo, agri-horti products, agar processing, food processing and tea industry.
Recognizing the potential for growth through the value addition of locally available resources, the department is focusing on the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSMS performance) programme, said Gitte and added that under the RAMP programme, the state has received a grant of Rs. 65.17 crore and will commence in the financial year 2024-25 for next three years.
The programme aims to identify 32,000 educated unemployed youths over three years and they will be given training and capacity building awareness for entrepreneurial opportunities, said Gitte and added that to formalize 10,000 new and existing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
