SP, Khowai district transferred with immediate stand released, 2 more OCs of poll bound ADC areas transferred
Just two days ahead of the high-voltage elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khowai district has been transferred with immediate ‘stand release’. Additionally, two Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of police stations in poll-bound tribal areas have also been transferred.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration (Personnel and Training) Department of the Tripura government on Thursday, IPS officer Bogati Jagadeeswar Reddy, currently serving as AIGP (Headquarters) of Tripura Police, has been posted as the new SP of Khowai district with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the incumbent SP of Khowai, Ranaditya Das (TPS Grade-I), has been transferred and posted as AIGP (Headquarters). Both officers have been ‘stand released’ with immediate effect.
Sources said the reshuffle comes in the wake of recent attacks on Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma in Teliamura and on Bipin Debbarma in Champahower, both under Khowai district, during the ongoing ADC election campaign.
In a separate order issued by the Police Headquarters, Officer-in-Charge of Champahower Police Station, Dilip Debbarma, has been transferred to the office of the SP (Khowai). Ajit Debbarma, who was serving as the second OC of the same police station, has been appointed as the new OC of the politically sensitive station.
Similarly, OC of Chellagang Police Station, Bimal Baidya, has been transferred to the office of the Commandant of CTI. In his place, Babul Das has been posted as the new OC of Chellagang Police Station with immediate effect.
Sources believe that these transfers were carried out following allegations of failure to take stringent action to curb pre-poll violence in their respective areas.
