Suffocating environment prevails, miscreants roaming across Tripura with political patronage, Jitendra Chaudhury
The growing crime rate across Tripura and inactiveness of police reflects total lawlessness and miscreants became scot-free to continue their criminal activities, said opposition leader, Jitendra Chaudhury.
The leader of opposition (LoP) and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury along with other party leaders on Saturday afternoon visited the house of late Harishankar Saha near Lal Bahadur Club of Agartala and spoke to the late businessman's wife and son, who was killed by an assailant at his mobile shop in Melarmath area on October 15 evening.
Later, speaking with media persons, Chaudhury claimed that a suffocating environment prevails across the state and during festival days, an innocent villager killed after custodial torture in Manu Bazar and a businessman murdered in presence of large number of people and police forces at the heart of city and such incidents reflect that no one is safe in reign of BJP government.
The custodial torture and death of a villager of Kaladhepa village of Manu Bazar police station under South Tripura district by state sponsored violence, said Chaudhury and claimed that law and order situation of the state totally collapsed.
The Left leader claimed that after two incidents - the murder of a businessman in Agartala and the death of a tribal youth at his residence after "torture" in police custody in South Tripura, " the rule of law has completely collapsed in Tripura during the BJP regime. During the past few months many innocent people were lynched by the 'goons' of the ruling BJP while more than three people died due to police torture.”
He said that people of the state get best gift during celebration of Durga Puja and Laxmi Puja by the coalition government, where a trader was murdered amidst huge gathering at the heart of Agartala city and an innocent villager lynched to death by police.
Chaudhury, demanding justice for family persons of Harishankar Saha , claimed that such incidents are happening in Tripura because Amitabh Ranjan, the DGP of Tripura is merely a pawn of the government. Honest officers are being sidelined and a section of police personnel are acting like agents of the ruling party.
“People are now being detained to get justice and due to the inactiveness of police, miscreants are roaming across the state and committing one after one serious crimes, which creates a fear-psychosis across the state,” alleged Chaudhury.
While, on Friday evening soon after arrival from New Delhi, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha visited the house of late Harishankar Saha near Lal Bahadur Club of Agartala and spoke to the late businessman's wife and son. The Chief Minister assured them that the state government is fully with the family.
