Suicide allegedly for mental torture by police, victim’s wife filed complaint
A wife of a government employee, who committed suicide allegedly after mental torture and brutish behaviour by a woman Sub-Inspector of East Agartala women police station, has filed an FIR for abetment of suicide.
Sources said one upper divisional clerk (UDC) Prabir Lodh posted at SDM(Sadar) office in Agartala was called by the East Agartala women police station on April 13th last after they received a molestation complaint against Prabir Lodh.
On April 13th, Women SI Mousumi Debbarma called to Prabir Lodh and Lodh along with his wife rushed to the police station, where he was informed that one his office colleague had filed a written complaint with allegation of molestation, but police did not registered the complaint.
During interrogation accused police officer SI Mousumi Debbarma severely abused Prabir Lodh with slurs and threatened him and also mentally tortured him in presence of his wife and other women police personnel. During hours long mental torture upon Prabir Lodh by indecent police officer, the OC of the police station , Inspector Shipra Bala Chanda, who is also popularly known for her ill-behavior with complainants and victim families was keep silent and Mousomi Debbarma continuously abused and threaten Prabir Lodh.
After four hours long so-called interrogation, Prabir Lodh was released from police station after written assurance by his wife that he will again visit the police station on April 14 morning 11 AM for mutual meeting with complainant lady.
But, severally disheartened and humiliated Prabir Lodh on April 14 morning committed suicide at his government quarter’s toilet.
On Sunday, victim Prabir Lodh’s wife along with advocate Raghunath Mukherjee filed a complaint at East Agartala police station against Women SI Mousumi Debbarma and against complainant lady under abetment of suicide allegation.
The victim wife hoped that they will get the justice errant police officer Mousumi Debbarma will be punished for torture upon an innocent citizen.
