Sunflower garden draws crowds, goes viral on social media
A sunflower garden in Tripura has become the latest sensation on social media, attracting large crowds of visitors eager to capture its scenic beauty. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are flooded with pictures of people posing amidst the vibrant yellow blooms.
The much-talked-about garden is located in the Boro Defa area of North Charilam under Sepahijala district. Visitors from Agartala and nearby regions are flocking to the spot daily, turning the area into what feels like a mini fair.
To protect the flowers from damage amid the surge in footfall, authorities have set up a police picket, while volunteers are actively monitoring the site. An entry fee of Rs 10 has been fixed for visitors, and sunflowers are also being sold at approximately Rs 100 per flower.
The garden is owned by two brothers, Sanjit Das and Ranjit Das, who said the blooming field is the result of nearly two to two-and-a-half months of dedicated effort. They expressed delight over the overwhelming response and noted that they have also received some support from the government.
Another sunflower garden in the same area, owned by Chittaranjan Majumdar, is also witnessing a steady rise in visitors. Tourists described the experience as mesmerizing, adding that such natural beauty at a minimal cost makes it even more enjoyable.
At present, a significant portion of the state’s flower demand is met from outside Tripura. However, locals believe that the success of these sunflower gardens could inspire more farmers to take up floriculture in the future.
