TCW chairperson attack, molested by her party workers in Dharmanagar
In a bizarre and inner conflict among the ruling party supporters split wide open as the chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) Barnali Goswami was thrashed and severally humiliated by BJP workers at Jail road area of Dharmanagar on Tuesday.
Later, police rushed to the spot and rescued Goswami.
While, Mrs Goswami said that on Tuesday at about 12.30 PM she went to the house of one Biswajit Malakar in Jail road and after half an hour, a group of people led by Dharmanagar Municipal Council’s councilor of ward number-20, Nandita Nath with BJP flags raided at the houses and attack on her barbarically.
He alleged that in front of police forces , she was dragged, physically attacked and molested.
But, the BJP leader claimed that Branamil Goswami after she declined for the party ticket from Dharmanagar assembly seats, hatched a conspiracy against party candidate Bishwa Bandhu Sen and campaigned against the BJP candidate and they detained her in that house.
Meanwhile, somehow, police rescued her and shifted Goswami to her parents’ house.
Opposition CPI(M) strongly condemned the incident and claimed that the crime against women in BJP rule Tripura reached its peak and now, the chairperson TCW were manhandled and molested in broad daylight in front of police forces. They demanded immediate arrest of all accused persons involved in the incident. Congress candidate for Dharmanagar seat Chayan Bhattacharjee and CPI(M) North Tripura district committee secretary Amitabha Datta met Mrs. Goswami.
Barnali Goswami also filed a complaint before the Returning Officer (RO) and also informed the matter to the top leaders of BJP.
