Ten more Bangladeshi, 3 wanted traffickers arrested from Agartala, Sonamura for illegal entry
Amidst strong surveillance in entire stretch of India-Bangladesh along with Tripura after unrest in Bangladesh to stop any attempt infiltration by Bangladeshi anti-social elements, the infiltration by Bangladeshi and Rohingyas has been continues and its fresh episode, altogether six Bangladeshi including five women and one male along with one wanted Bangladeshi tout and two human traffickers were arrested by police, Government Railway Police (GRP) from Sonamura border and Agartala railway station on Thursday .
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration by Bangladeshi Rohingyas into Tripura unabated, but vigilant security forces in maximum cases managed to arrest them after they entered Indian territory.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that based on secret information over presence of one wanted Bangladeshi trafficker, the GRP of Agartala station along with police personnel from Sonamura and BSF laid traps at bordering UNC Nagar under Sonamura subdivision near border fencing gate in the wee hours of Thursday.
Later, joint security forces raided a house adjacent to the Indo-Bangla border fencing and managed to arrest a wanted trafficker, identified as Md Rohul Amin of Comilla district of Bangladesh, who was involved with many trafficking cases of Bangladeshi and Rohingyas.
On Thursday afternoon, he was produced before a local court in Agartala with police remand appeal for interrogation.
Das said that on Thursday evening, based on secret information, the GRP and RPF have also arrested three more Bangladeshi before boarding a long distance train from Agartala Railway station. They were identified as Sonali Rani Ghosh (37), Sagar Ghosh (19) and Manisha Kumari Ghosh (19) of Narail district of Bangladesh.
During preliminary interrogation, they said they are Indian, but after thorough interrogation, they revealed that they are Bangladeshi, who were entered into Tripura’s territory without any valid documents, said Das and added that they wanted to go to Hyderabad city for treatment purposes.
He said that all arrested Bangladeshi would be produced before a local court on Friday for further interrogation to unearth their infiltration nexus.
In another incident, Jatrapur police station of Sepahijala district managed to arrest two human traffickers including a woman and three Bangladeshi women from bordering Kali Krishna Nagar.
Police said that three arrested Bangladeshi youths were identified as Swapna Aktar (24), Riya Aktar (18) and Miss Ahmed (20) of Dhaka, Bangladeshi.
Two Indian human traffickers were identified as Abul Kalam and his companion Ayesha Begum of Kali Krishna Nagar village, who were involved with trafficking of Bangladeshi women in big cities of India. All arrested persons including Bangladeshi girls would be produced before a local court on Friday with police remand appeals for interrogation.
The BSF troops have arrested four more Bangladeshi nationals from two separate places in West Tripura and Sepahijala districts.
Over the last three and a half months, around 420 Bangladeshi nationals and over 60 Rohingyas were arrested by the GRP, BSF and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
