Three drug peddlers arrested with dry Ganja at Kumarghat
In a successful operation , police on Saturday arrested three drug peddlers along with 28 kilograms of dry Cannabis (Ganja) under possession from a passenger vehicle from National Highway portion of Kumarghat under Dhalai district.
Police sources said that on Saturday afternoon at around 1 PM, a passenger vehicle (TATA Magic) bearing registration number TR04A-3848 was coming from Nidebi towards Kumarghat. On reaching Netaji Chowmuhani, a few passengers got down from the vehicle. During this time, on-duty police personnel of Kumarghat police station and Traffic Unit noticed some suspicious bags on the rear seat of the vehicle.
Police said that on enquiry, three youths admitted that the bags belonged to them. When the bags were checked, police found brown-coloured packets containing dry Ganja wrapped in blankets. On being caught, the three individuals attempted to flee, but the alert police personnel, with the assistance of the vehicle driver, managed to detain them and immediately brought them to the Kumarghat police station’s Naka point, where they were formally detained.
Subsequently, all necessary legal formalities were completed. A total of approximately 28 kg of dry Ganja was recovered from the possession of the three accused persons, identified as Palendra Reang (41),Daharam Reang (26) and Dhaniham Reang (25).
Police also said that a specific case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Kumarghat police station against three drug peddlers and further investigation is in progress.
