Three-inter-state drug peddlers arrested with banned cough syrups
In another successful operation, the Agartala city police have managed to arrest three drug peddlers involved with an inter-state drug smuggling network and recovered contraband cough syrup under their possessions on Saturday.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) AD Nagar police station, Sushanta Deb said that a contingent of police forces along with local people of Jagannath Bari road of Madhya Pratapgarh under their jurisdiction has arrested three drug peddlers including one woman and two male persons.
He said that among arrested drug peddlers, one Narayan Barman of Subhash Nagar area under West Tripura district in association with two more peddlers from Bihar state , identified as Jitendra Kumar and Nandini Devi has sheltered in a house at Madhya Pratapgarh after arriving at Agartala by a long distance train.
Deb added that based on the secret information, police after detained them, conducted a search in that house and other belongings of them including their bags and recovered large quantities of banned cough syrups, Ex-cough under their possession.
OC added that all drug peddlers were produced before a local court on Saturday in a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
He also said that based on preliminary interrogation, the arrested trio revealed that they were actively involved with the inter-state drug transportation network.
