Three SIM boxes seized in joint raid at Joynagar, suspected international link
In a late-night joint operation, the Crime Branch, Central Intelligence Bureau (IB), and West Bengal Police recovered three SIM boxes from an area adjacent to the Joynagar Yuva Samaj Club under West Agartala police station.
Police sources said that SIM boxes are often used to route calls in a manner that makes them difficult to trace, raising concerns about their potential use in illegal activities.
Police added that during the joint raid on Friday late night a West Bengal resident, identified as Ritu Sarkar, had been staying as a tenant at the residence of one Ranjit Thakur in the Joynagar area. Investigators suspect that the rented house was being used to operate various international criminal activities.
However, the accused was not present during the raid. During the search operation, officials recovered three SIM boxes along with 64 SIM cards from the premises.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific nature of the crimes linked to the seized equipment. However, investigating agencies believe the case may have connections to a larger international network. Officials declined to comment on the matter when approached by the media.
