TNGCL workers to stop service from Feb 17 if their demands not fulfill

The workers union of Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) has threatened to cease work from February 17 next if their demands are not fulfilled by the management.

Leaders of Tripura Prakritik Gas Mazdoor Sangh (TPGMS) addressing a press conference at Agartala on Friday raised serious concerns over staff shortages and operational safety.

Recently, in a letter to TNGCL’s Managing Director and Director Commercial, the TPGMS highlighted several key issues affecting the company’s operations.

They alleged that TNGCL has been operating with insufficient manpower, which has led to delays in customer service, increased risks in operation and maintenance (O&M) activities, and growing dissatisfaction among workers over their wages.

The workers’ union emphasized that the current workforce is struggling to meet the demands of expanding PNG (piped natural gas) and CNG (compressed natural gas) services across Tripura.

The general secretary of TPGMS, Binoy Mallik said that as per seniority, skill and designation of all contractual employees of TNGCL, the authorities must ensure their hike salaries at the earliest.

He also demanded that all employees should get equal salaries on their equal jobs and authorities should restrict themselves over creation of division among employees.

TPGMS also demanded a hike in salaries over operation and maintenance (O&M) activities along with conveyance for all employees.

TPGMS also warned that unless these demands are not addressed, all workers employed under TNGCL statewide refrain from service starting February 17, 2025, as part of an ongoing protest program.
