The bodies of three members of the same family were recovered from a residence in the West Muhuripur area under the Santirbazar sub-division of South Tripura district on Friday.
Sources said that the blood-soaked bodies of Sankar Chakraborty and his wife, Chhabi Chakraborty, were recovered from their home. Meanwhile, the body of their son, Krishna Chakraborty, was found hanging in the same room. While local rumors suggest that the son may have murdered his parents before taking his own life, significant mystery still surrounds the deaths.
After receiving the information, a large section police forces—including personnel from the Baikhora and Belonia police stations, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police for the South District rushed to the spot.
While, speaking to the media over the gruesome incident, Shankar Chakraborty’s another son, Mithun Chakraborty, stated that his brother Krishna worked for a private company. Krishna had gone to work as usual that day but returned home early. Upon arriving home, Krishna asked Mithun to call their father so everyone could take a bath, mentioning that they would go out together after bathing.
After everyone had bathed, Krishna sent Mithun to their uncle's house to retrieve a locker key. While away, Mithun tried calling both his mother and brother on their phones, but received no answer. Suspecting something was wrong, he rushed back home to find all the doors and windows locked from the inside.
When no one answered his calls, Mithun looked through a back window and saw his brother Krishna hanging. Attempting to save his brother, Mithun then discovered his mother lying on the floor in a pool of blood with her throat slit, and his father lying nearby with severe head injuries.
Elaborating on the tragic incident, Mithun stated that his brother Krishna was in a relationship with a girl and had recently completed a court marriage with her. While Krishna’s family had accepted the marriage, the girl’s family reportedly refused to accept it. Mithun blamed the girl’s family for these unusual deaths, emphasizing that there was no conflict or unrest within their own family.
Police have launched an investigation to uncover the true circumstances behind the deaths. It remains to be seen what steps the police will take to unravel the mystery.
