Tripura allocated Rs 3450 Crore under Pride of Hills initiative
Tripura has received an allocation of Rs 3,450 crore under the Centre’s ‘Pride of Hills’ initiative for the financial year 2026–27, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced.
Expressing gratitude, the minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for launching the scheme under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI).
He stated that the allocated funds are expected to significantly boost infrastructure development, strengthen the tourism sector, and address financial requirements across multiple sectors in the state.
The ‘Pride of Hills’ initiative has been designed to tackle key challenges faced by hill states, including difficult terrain, poor accessibility, low population density, and limited revenue-generation capacity. Such states often face weaker fiscal conditions, marked by higher debt-to-GSDP ratios, lower internal revenue, and heavy dependence on central transfers.
Chowdhury further noted that the additional financial support aims to accelerate development through increased capital expenditure while also helping states manage existing liabilities.
For the 2026–27 fiscal year, a total of Rs 25,000 crore has been earmarked under this component, apart from other special assistance allocations.
As per the distribution, Arunachal Pradesh received Rs 4,900 crore, Himachal Pradesh Rs 3,920 crore, Manipur Rs 2,400 crore, Meghalaya Rs 2,070 crore, Mizoram Rs 100 crore, Nagaland Rs 3,880 crore, Sikkim Rs 820 crore, Tripura Rs 3,450 crore, and Uttarakhand Rs 3,460 crore.
