Tripura Cabinet approves Technical and Women’s Universities, clears recruitment for 400 plus posts
In a significant move, the Tripura Cabinet has approved the conversion of the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) into a full-fledged Technical University and the upgradation of Women's College into a Women’s University.
Briefing the media on the Cabinet decisions taken at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the government has also approved amendments to the Tripura Journalist Pension Scheme, making it more flexible for working journalists to avail government pension and family pension benefits.
As part of a major recruitment drive, the Cabinet approved the filling up of over 400 government posts. Under the Co-operative Department, 97 vacant posts — including auditors, investigators and statistical investigators — will be filled through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT).
The Minister added that 28 posts of ICDS Supervisors under the Social Welfare and Social Education Department will be filled up through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).
Under the Urban Development Department, the Cabinet has created 14 new posts, including Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer and Public Health Engineer positions.
To strengthen the Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI) under the ICA Department, eight faculty members and support staff will be recruited on a contractual basis.
The Cabinet also approved a major expansion of the Anganwadi network. The government will open 119 new Anganwadi centres across the state. Accordingly, 119 Anganwadi Workers and 119 Helpers posts have been created, with recruitment to begin soon.
Additionally, the Cabinet has sanctioned the recruitment of 22 Night Guards (Group-D) under the Secondary Education Department.
“With these decisions, a total of 407 posts have been created and will be filled soon,” Minister Chowdhury said.
