Tripura Governor graces BSF Raising Day celebration
The week-long Diamond Jubilee of Border Security Force (BSF) Day celebrations concluded at the BSF camp in Salbagan on Wednesday with a dinner at Tusker Officers’ Institute.
Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, attended the BSF Day 2025 dinner as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed and felicitated by Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, IG BSF of Tripura Frontier. Senior officers from administration, police, and central and state agencies also joined the event.
In his address, the Governor congratulated all members of the “Seema Prahari Parivar” on this historic occasion. He expressed confidence that the force will continue to uphold its honour, and wished the entire Prahari family the very best.
Recalling more than six decades of valiant service by the BSF — the world’s largest border-guarding force — the Governor lauded the courage, commitment and professionalism displayed by its personnel. He praised their role as the nation’s first line of defence.
He also reminded the gathering of BSF’s contributions during critical moments, including the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, the conflict in Kargil, and Operation Sindoor. He appreciated how the force has also operated beyond border guarding — contributing to internal security, combating insurgency in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and the North-Eastern states, and ensuring safety during large-scale events such as the Amarnath Yatra, global sporting events, and multilateral summits like G20 and CHOGM.
Highlighting BSF’s role in Tripura, the Governor noted how the force has secured approximately 856 km of the Indo-Bangladesh border across difficult terrain and under harsh climatic conditions. He commended the significant improvements in border infrastructure and the living conditions of border communities.
Drawing from his frequent visits to border outposts, the Governor shared accounts of how the troops under Tripura Frontier have engaged in community welfare and enhanced the Human Development Index in the border belt. He said that border residents spoke highly of the assistance provided by BSF and described a familial bond between the local population and the force.
The Governor also cautioned the gathering about new and emerging threats — including cyber, space, industrial and communication warfare, drug trafficking, and drone-related dangers. He urged all concerned to remain vigilant and prepare effectively to counter these evolving challenges.
