The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) of Tripura government on Wednesday organized a stakeholder consultation programme on the draft Tripura AVGC-XR Policy in Agartala, aiming to build a strong ecosystem for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector in the state.

The programme brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, academic experts, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from the AVGC-XR ecosystem to discuss the proposed policy framework focused on creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and digital employment opportunities in Tripura.

The event was attended by Secretary of Information Technology, Kiran Gitte,  along with senior officials, directors from various departments, and other dignitaries.

The programme began with a presentation by Director of Information Technology, Jeya Ragul Geshan B, who outlined the state government’s vision of creating a vibrant AVGC-XR ecosystem in Tripura. He highlighted the objectives of the draft policy, including talent development, entrepreneurship promotion, industry participation, content creation, and employment generation.

Addressing the gathering, Kiran Gitte said Tripura has made significant progress in the IT sector in recent years, particularly in digital infrastructure, technology adoption, capacity building, and innovation-driven governance initiatives.

The technical sessions featured expert interventions by Mr. Austin Davis from the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, and Mr. Manvendra Shukul from IICT. An interactive discussion was also held with industry stakeholders from the AVGC-XR sector.

Professor Saikat Roy from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, shared insights into the evolving media and entertainment landscape and highlighted emerging opportunities in the AVGC-XR sector.

The consultation also included a special session featuring entrepreneurs from the AVGC industry. Mr. Anurag Khurana, Founder of New Gen Gaming, and Mr. Vishal Parekh, Founder of Cyber Power, shared their experiences on enterprise creation, innovation, market opportunities, and the scope for local talent in the rapidly growing sector.

During the open forum discussion, participants deliberated on various aspects of the draft policy, including skill development, startup promotion, cultural content creation, youth-led innovation, and employment generation.

According to officials, the stakeholder consultation was organized to gather feedback and suggestions from industry, academia, creators, students, and citizens to ensure that the final policy remains inclusive and responsive to emerging industry needs.

The Government of Tripura aims to establish a strong AVGC-XR ecosystem aligned with the broader vision of the orange economy and position the state as an emerging AVGC-XR destination in the Northeast.

The initiative is being undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and with the guidance of Information Technology, Finance, and Planning & Coordination Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. Officials said the proposed policy would complement initiatives such as the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 and the Tripura Cybersecurity Policy 2025 to further strengthen innovation-led growth and youth employment in the state.
