Tripura launches PMKVY 4.0 skill programmes with IIT Delhi; MoUs signed with IBM and HCL
The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, on Monday inaugurated IIT Delhi–led Advanced IT and Emerging Technology Skill Development Programmes under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, in collaboration with the Industry Innovation Hub Foundation (IHFC) and the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) of IIT Delhi. The programme was launched at NIT Agartala.
The initiative marks a significant step towards making Tripura’s youth future-ready by focusing on advanced job roles aligned with emerging technologies and current industry demands.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading global technology firms IBM and HCL, aimed at strengthening industry-oriented training, live projects, internships, and enhanced placement opportunities for students from Tripura.
Under PMKVY 4.0, IIT Delhi will provide specialised training in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The courses will have a strong emphasis on face-to-face classroom instruction and laboratory-based learning, delivered by IIT faculty members and industry experts.
In the first phase of the programme, 300 engineering graduates will be trained in collaboration with NIT Agartala, NIELIT Agartala, MSME Tool Room Agartala, and Tripura University.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Shri Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, who appreciated the efforts of the Tripura Government and expressed confidence that such initiatives would ensure students from the state become both future-ready and employment-ready.
Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Government of Tripura, stated that the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to bridging the gap between education and industry, while creating a skilled workforce capable of competing in national and global markets.
The programme reinforces the vision of “Skill Tripura, Skilled India”, positioning the state as an emerging hub for advanced technology talent in the Northeast.
