Tripura Panchayat polls in July end or August first week, SEC
The three-tier Panchayat election in Tripura would be conducted in the last week of July or in the first week of August next, said the State Election Commissioner.
Speaking with media persons, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Saradindu Chaudhury said that the Commission has finalized the 2650 polling stations across the 35 blocks of the state and the Commission has also published the draft electoral rolls with 12,95,086 voters. The claim and objection over draft electoral rolls is going on and the Commission will publish the final electoral roll on June 24th next, said Chaudhury and added that the term of three-tier Panchayats will end in the First week of August.
The Commission has completed all preparations to conduct the poll on its due time and after consultation with the state government, the Commission will announce the polling date with a target to conduct the election in the last week of July or in the first week of August, said SEC.
He said that the polling for Panchayts would be held for 6,370 seats of Gram Panchayat in 35 blocks, 423 seats for 35 Panchayat Samities and 116 seats for 8 Zilla Parishads.
