Tripura ready to welcome Narendra Modi, PM to inaugurate HMI, Dental College, many road projects

The state administration has completed all preparations to welcome the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18 at Agartala, who will address a mass rally at Vivekananda stadium and to attend a variety of events to launch a host of projects including inauguration of Hotel Management Institute(HMI) and Dental College virtually.

Giving details of the massive preparedness of the state government for the official visit of the Prime Minister, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Saturday afternoon said that soon after arrival of PM’s special Air Force flight at 2.15 PM on Sunday, the Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma, union minister, MPs, Chief Secretary, DGP, DM and SP of West Tripura district will welcome the PM.

From airport, the convoy of the Prime Minister will strait arrive at the Vivekananda stadium, where after inaugurating and launching host of projects, the Prime Minister after addressing the large gathering of beneficiaries from different parts of the state, will leave the stadium at 3.45 PM and will arrive at State Guest house, said Chowdhury and added that in the state guest house, the PM has scheduled to attend an interaction with ministers and MLAs.

Chowdhury said that during the programme at Vivekananda stadium, the inauguration of houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme including 1,52,019 houses under rural and 54,526 houses under urban through virtually. Then, the PM will inaugurate the Hotel Management Institute and Dental College also through virtually.

Later, in the programme, PM will lay the foundation stone virtually for 32 roads under PM Gram Sadak Yojana with length of 232 kilometers and 112 road projects with length of 542 KMs, said Chowdhury and added that a mass enthusiasm are being prevailing across the in view of the PM visit and government excepted more than 72,000 people will arrive in the state capital to witness the Prime Minister’s programme.

Sharing details of the government’s arrangement to bring beneficiaries, Chowdhury said that 600 buses, 2500 light motor vehicles (LMVs) have been arranged for transportation  and in addition to local trains, the government has arranged and will run four special trains from North and South Tripura districts.

Meanwhile, amidst tight security measures, the Chief Ministers along with his cabinet colleagues are continuously monitoring the entire preparedness to make the event a grand one.

Besides state police and Special Protection Guards (SPG), around 1500 trained armed paramilitary personnel were deployed in the city from Saturday to ensure the hassle-free gathering of above 70,000 people.

The District Magistrate of West Tripura Debapriya Bardhan said as many as 16 cultural troupes have been engaged to welcome the Prime Minister en route to the airport to Vivekananda stadium.
