Tripura to host all India police football tournament from Feb 24, 43 teams to participate

The 73rd B N Mallik memorial all India Police Football championship will be held in Tripura from February 24 next and altogether 43 teams including 9 women teams will participate in five grounds in different parts of the state, which will continue up to March 7th next.
On Saturday, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy attended a preparatory meeting held at Bhagat Singh Youth hostel in Agartala in presence of concerned officials from different departments of the state government.
Speaking in the meeting, the Sports Minister said that his department will extend all possible help for the success of the tournament and urged the authorities to ensure proper arrangements of all visiting football teams.
He also stressed over pre-campaigning of the tournaments, where central forces and different state police teams will participate.
While giving details of the championship, DIG Prabir Majumder said that in the 73rd BN Mallik all India police football championship, altogether 43 teams including teams from BSF, CRPF, RPF, CISF will participate. Among them 34 are men football team and 9 women football teams of police will participate and matches will be played at Umakanta mini stadium, Tulabagan stadium of Mohanpur, Sachindra Colony ground at Jirania, Jampuijala football ground and Chandrapur ground in Udaipur.
During the preparatory meeting, vice-chairperson of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Biswajit Shil, Additional DGP (Training) M Raja Muragan, Secretary of Sports department, Dr PK Chakraborty, DIG (Crime) Krishnendu Chakraborty and other officials from Sports department, Tripura Football Association (TFA), Tripura Sports Council were present.
It may be recalled here that the prestigious tournament, named after B.N. Mullik, a former Director of the Intelligence Bureau, is a significant event in India's police sports calendar, bringing together police teams from across the country to compete in football matches.
