Tripura Tourism to attract G-20 science conference, department to adopt special strategies to attract tourists, Sushanta Chowdhury

In order to boost the tourism sector in Tripura and to attract more and more tourists from domestic and international, the Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday directed the officials to adopt special strategies to attract more tourists in the state.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury attended a review meeting with all officials of the Tourism department at the conference hall of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TTDCL) at ‘Swetmahal’ in Agartala and said that  the science summit of the G-20 conference will be held at Agartala on April 3rd and 4th and the department have to project the hot tourism spots of the state  before the international delegates to promote the tourism.

Chowdhury said that the department has  to think outside the box and plan accordingly to take tourism of the state to a new height and by developing the  tourism sectors, these will  become a model for state’s own revenue generation and make the state self-reliant.

Claiming that the Tourism sector’s development in Tripura is their mission, the minister said that he personally feels that any work can give good results only with the active participation of all levels of employees and all stakeholders in any department.

Tripura  has huge potential for tourism in various fields. Tourism needs an increase  in the variety of facilities at the attractive tourist spots of the state , which will definitely increase the number of tourist falls and will generate associate trade and businesses, said Chowdhury.

He suggested for introduction of package tour facilities , tea garden based tourism and boat house construction in Dumbur lake  and with proper publicity in social media, TV channels and in newspapers. He also asked the tourism authorities to appoint a brand ambassador for Tripura Tourism  and ordered the authorities to set up a cultural dais  and food court at the complex of Ujjayanta palace. The cultural dais should have cultural evenings every weekend and officials should think on this subject, said Chowdhury. Which attracts more tourists to visit the Ujjayanta  palace.

Chowdhury also said, “Nowadays the villages of our state are also becoming the centre of tourism. Our remote villages are emerging on the map of Tourism. There is also an increase in the footfalls of domestic and foreign tourists. However, the department  needs to develop special strategies to attract more domestic and foreign tourists in the state and religious places should be redeveloped as tourist attractions.”

“Tourism should be promoted at every level to take the heritage and culture of our state to every corner of the world. We all have to work with more enthusiasm for the expansion and development of the tourism industry in the state”, he also added.

The majestic tourist spots of the state must dazzle with glitter on the global map of tourism. The G-20 Science Summit would provide an international platform for the exposure of our tourist centres, said Chowdhury.

In this review meeting, Tourism department’s secretary UK Chakma, Director Tapan Kumar Das and other officials were also present.
