Fifteen tribal students from Assam Rifles Public Schools (ARPS) in Agartala and Udaipur had the opportunity to interact with Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma during their educational tour to Mumbai under the Assam Rifles' "Exploring India" campaign.

Organized by the Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), the educational tour is being conducted from October 1 to 11, 2026. The group, comprising 15 students and two teachers, is visiting prominent historical, cultural and educational landmarks across Mumbai as part of the initiative.

On Tuesday, the students met Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai. During the interaction, the Governor shared insights into Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage, traditions and diverse socio-economic landscape, providing the students with a unique learning experience.

The Governor appreciated the Assam Rifles' initiative to provide tribal students from the Northeast with exposure to different parts of the country, enabling them to explore India's cultural, historical and educational heritage. He also encouraged the students to make the most of such opportunities to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the nation.

The students shared their experiences from the tour and expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to visit important landmarks and interact with eminent personalities.

The "Exploring India" campaign aims to expose students from the Northeast to the country's diverse cultural heritage, historical sites, educational institutions and developmental achievements. Through such initiatives, the Assam Rifles seeks to promote national integration, broaden the horizons of young students and inspire them to contribute to nation-building.
