Tripura University revises semester exam schedule after ABVP protest
In a significant victory for students, Tripura University has revised its semester examination schedule following a strong appeal from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Tripura Pradesh.
The student body had earlier raised serious concerns over the clash between the university's semester exams and the CUET PG 2025 entrance test, which created immense anxiety among students.
ABVP State Secretary Gourab Das had submitted a formal memorandum to the Controller of Examination, Tripura Central University, on March 5, 2025, demanding an urgent revision of the examination timetable. The earlier schedule, as per Notification No. F/TU/COE/11/UG-S/2023, set the Three-Year Degree Programme (General & Honours) 1st, 3rd & 5th Semester Examinations from March 17 to April 11, 2025. However, these dates overlapped with the CUET PG 2025, which is scheduled from March 13 to April 1, 2025.
Describing the situation as an "academic catastrophe," ABVP argued that forcing students to choose between their university exams and postgraduate entrance tests was unjust and could jeopardize their future. "Education is the foundation of progress, and denying students the opportunity to appear for both crucial exams would have been deeply unfair," said Gourab Das.
Following intense discussions and student activism, the university authorities took swift action and officially declared the rescheduled examination routine today. The decision has brought immense relief to students who were previously struggling with the uncertainty of their academic future.
Students, guardians, and the academic community have expressed gratitude towards ABVP for taking up the issue and ensuring a favorable resolution. The timely intervention by the student organization has been widely appreciated, as it has helped eliminate a major academic hurdle for hundreds of aspirants.
With the revised schedule now in place, students can confidently prepare for both their semester exams and CUET PG without compromise.
