Another boy from Tripura, Chand Mallik achieved a grand success by securing topped position in NEET UG 2024 along with other dozen of students from different parts of the country and he is one of the 67 All India Rank holders who got 99.99 percentile in NEET UG 2024.

While speaking with media persons,  Chand Mallik said he  never thought of seeing his name in the first All India Rank Holders' list in National Eligibility cum Entrance Tests (NEET)-UG exam, the results of which were declared on June 4, 2024. He got a 99.99 percentile, drawing inspiration from his father Dr Chandan Mallik, and a medical officer at Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital in Agartala.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has congratulated Chand Mallik on his brilliant success and said that he has made the state and its people proud.

Chand Mallik who was under the self-study and care of only two reputed teachers  and without any coaching centre guidance, only son of Dr Chandan Mallik (Surgeon) posted in IGM hospital and Mrs Supti Das Mallik of  Ram Nagar Road No-2 area of  Agartala, who had been admitted to Holy Cross school of Agartala and excelled in his academic studies. Later, he shifted to ‘Shishu Vihar’ school of Agartala affiliated with the CBSE. In the Higher Secondary examinations, Chand had scored 96% marks and the NEET (UG) obtained 720 out of 720.

He said that since his childhood, the medical profession of his father inspired most, who has always been attracted to biological science.

Chand said he wants to study MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and also plan to pursue PG later.

He used to study at least seven hours every day for the NEET examinations and he believed that self-study, apart from taking coaching, is very important to get success. For academic success in life, he stressed the importance of self-study at home and it will be beneficial, said Chand.

Besides self-study, Chand advised the NEET aspirants to keep calm, especially on examination days. He said that has seen many students who could not score well in main exams even after they scored well in mock tests and it may be because of their panic. That's why,  all aspirants should keep calm and give  their best attempts.

It may be recalled here that of the total 2406079 candidates registered in the NEET-UG exam, 2333297 candidates had appeared, and out of them, 1316268 candidates had qualified for the exam. The exam was held on May 5 this year.
