Two Bangladeshi smugglers injured, major smuggling attempt foiled by BSF, 5 BD nations detained
In two separate incidents, Border Guards foiled a major smuggling attempt at bordering Boxanagar under Sepahijala district of Tripura, in which two Bangladeshi smugglers suffered pellet gun injuries and in another special operation, BSF jawans has detained five Bangladeshi from Belonia under South Tripura district.
BSF sources said that on July 18th at about 2.45 AM in Boxanagar area BSF troops foiled a major smuggling attempt of contraband items by Bangladeshi smugglers. BSF troops fired non lethal weapons in self defense when Bangladeshi smugglers didn't pay heed to warning of BSF , tried to encircle and attack the troops on duty and further attempted to smuggle the goods forcefully.
On being fired smugglers fled away from the place leaving behind huge quantities of sugar.
It is reliably learnt that two Bangladeshi smugglers got pellet injuries and are undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bangladesh.
BSF added that troops are on high alert in the border to deal with anti national elements and to prevent trans border crimes.
In the same day, based on specific information, a special operation was launched by BSF in the border area of Belonia in which five Bangladeshi including three female, one male and one boy, were apprehended while trying to illegally enter into Indian territory.
All the detainees identified as Nazima Begum(40), Salma Begum (50), Nazima Begum( 28), Yasim sheikh(11) and Md Akhter(34) are residents of district Madaripur and Barisal in Bangladesh.
All of them are in the possession of Indian identity documents like Aadhar, PAN etc and were heading towards different parts in Delhi. BSF is further questioning them.
BSF has recently stepped up surveillance on the suspected touts and monitoring their activities in order to check the infiltration. Special emphasis is on to crack the nexus of touts, facilitators and providing the shelter logistics and fake documents for easy and unchecked movement in the hinterland.
It may be recalled here that BSF is cracking down heavily on the illegal migration by Bangladeshi nationals and has stepped up vigil in the border area.
