Two bodies recovered in mysterious conditions, murder suspected
In two separate incidents two bodies were recovered in two separate parts of the state on Wednesday with mysterious conditions.
Police sources said on Wednesday morning the local villagers of Tanti Para area under Airport police station noticed a decomposed body floating in a pond.
After the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot with a forensic team and recovered the body.
Police added that the body was recovered in a decomposed position and the face of the deceased unknown man was burnt by pouring acid. While, police shifted the body to GB Hospital morgue for autopsy and by registering a suspected murder case started investigation to ascertain the identity of the victim man aged about 35 to 40 years.
In another incident, the local villagers during their morning walk noticed a body of youth under Chailengta Bridge under Longtarai Valley subdivision of Dhalai district on Wednesday morning.
Immediately, police and other local people rushed to the spot and they managed to identify the victim youth as Shantijoy Chakma (35), who was missing since Tuesday night.
Police sources said that Shantijoy Chakma was last seen with his few friends on Tuesday night, but was not returned back to his house. On Wednesday morning, some local people noticed his body with blood stains in his face under the bridge of river Manu.
Police also added that the victim youth was habitual drug addict and they after recovering the body shifted the body to Longtarai Valley hospital for post-mortem and started investigation. Police also said that till the findings of the autopsy report, they cannot say anything especially over the nature of the death whether the youth died due to overdose of drug or any other foul play.
