Two CPI (M) MLAs of Sonamura urges for security cover
Two CPI (M) MLAs of Sonamura subdivision on Tuesday demanded immediate measures for their security as both of them received several life threat calls.
Addressing a press conference at a CPI (M) office in Sonamura on Tuesday, two newly elected CPI (M) MLAs Samsul Haque and Shyamal Chakraborty said that despite large –scale of violence and arsoning in their respective assembly constituencies. But, they were totally unable to visit their constituencies due to threats and intimidation received by them.
Speaking in the press meet Samsul Haque said that hundreds of people of both constituencies are already escaped from their houses and many houses, properties including rubber gardens were ransacked or burnt into ashes by the miscreants. Even, many Congress supporters’ families of the subdivision were also attacked and an economic blockade has been created as victim families were unable to collect their ration items from fair price shops.
Haque said that they have written letters to the district SP and District Magistrate (DM) and highlighted the threats they had received from various corner and urged the authorities to provide them police escort for their live security and to visit all violence affected areas of the constituencies to meet the victim families.
Shyamal Chakraborty alleged that the administrations are appealing for peace and tranquility, but in reality there are no scene of peace and harmony even the ruling party supporters are day by day intensifying their violent activities targeting the opposition supporters and their families.
Both the MLAs have also urged the state administration to ensure their security and to take concrete steps to restore peace and tranquility.
